Paddle Nepal wins 2018 National Rafting Championships and earns the title of the official Nepal National Rafting Team.
Congratulations Som Bahadur Magar, Jeevan Gurung, Man Bahadur Kandel (Michael), Lil Bahadur Gurung (BJ) and Bharat Gurung. Your hard work & positive sportsmanship make us so proud. Team coach Nim B Magar exclaimed, “I feel like we just won the world cup!”
Paddle Nepal accumulated 913 points for the win, followed closely by Team Fishling B with 895 points and finally the reigning Nepal Kayak Club with 786 points.
This championship title earns our team opportunity to represent Nepal in the Rafting World Champs later this year in Argentina. With funding & logistics obstacles ahead, Argentina is uncertain – for now we are very happy embracing the win and enjoying being back on the top of the podium.
Further congratulations goes out to all the teams who participated in the event run by NRCA. We’ve seen a dramatic improvement in skill, leadership, teamwork & sportsmanship year after year. The bar has certainly been raised.
And finally, a BIG thank you to the National Rafting & Canoeing Association – NRCA, Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies – NARA, Himalayan River Guide Association – HRGAN, and to all of Nepal’s IRF judges for volunteering your time to organize the official International Rafting Federation event. You have a difficult and often thankless job, but we appreciate your valuable time, hard work and challenging decisions.
